From the Spurgeon's library: My library jewel
Certainly one may have many books in his library that would be considered as jewels. This one I present to you is my jewel. It is a book entitled The Psalms: their history, teachings and use by William Binnie (1886). In this volume you have a thematic study of some psalms contained in the Bible: Messianic psalms, David's psalms, Personal religion in the psalms, Social religion in the psalms... These topics make of this book a jewel in itself; but what really makes it "the jewel" is a certificate on the book's frontispiece by Thomas Spurgeon, one of C.H. Spurgeon's sons, that reads: We certify that this volume formed part of our beloved father's library at Westwood. And it is signed by Charles Spurgeon and Thomas Spurgeon. But there is more... The writer wrote some words to dedicate this book to the same Spurgeon: The Rev. C.H. Spurgeon with the author's respectful (?). Aberdeen 17th may 1886.
I will keep this book in my library bookshelf as a jewel, I will read it as probably Spurgeon did, and I will give thanks to God for people as Mr Binnie, Spurgeon or the bookseller who sold me this book.
